Hello, I'm Melissa
I grew up traveling with my parents, and somewhere along the way I learned that the best trips weren't always the ones where we saw the most. They were the ones where we slowed down enough to actually remember them.As I have gotten older, I've realized most people don't pick the wrong places...They pick too many places.Especially when vacation time can be limited and a lot of people are trying to squeeze one more stop, one more town, and one more recommendation into a trip that's already full.I have also seen the other side of travel.I grew up in a small town, I've watched local businesses close, watched communities struggle, and seen places that could genuinely benefit from thoughtful visitors. I've also visited places who have to deal with the opposite problem.That is why I don't think travel is about checking boxes or collecting destinations.I think it's about experiencing a place.The Wild Crossing is where I share overlooked places, destination inspiration, and a different way to think about travel. One that's a little slower, a little more curious, and built around actually enjoying the trip you are taking.
